Eligibility

Canterbury Care Center offers services to people age 60 and older, as well as individuals in their 50’s that are comfortable in the Canterbury Care Center setting who may be:

  • Socially isolated
  • Dealing with medical, cognitive or emotional issues
  • Dependent on others for care, activity or transportation, but who want to remain as independent as possible and avoid an institutional setting
  • Able to benefit from regular health supervision

CCC accepts individuals with the following conditions:

  • Visual and/or hearing impairment
  • Stroke
  • Parkinson’s disease
  • Early, Mild, and Moderate Dementia
  • Depression/Other Mental Health Disorders
  • Cardiac Problems
  • Hypertension
  • Diabetes
  • Moderate Development Disabilities
  • COPD
  • Balance Problems
  • Aphasia
  • Amputees
  • Traumatic Brain Injury
  • Renal Failure

CCC can accept individuals with the following conditions as long as the potential client can independently manage their own care:

  • Oxygen dependent
  • Pacemaker Checks
  • Colostomy/Ostomy Care
  • Foley/Indwelling Catheters
  • CCC cannot accept individuals with the following conditions:

    • Communicable disease
    • Ventilator
    • Feeding tube
    • Uncontrolled Seizure Disorder
    • Colostomy/Ostomy Care (if they cannot manage their own care)
    • IV Line
    • Hoyer Lift Need
    • Choking Risk
    • Deep Wound Care
    • Intoxication
    • End Stage Dementia
    • Requiring Two person assist
    • History of violence to self or others or whose behavior is not appropriate within the group setting
    • Actively abusing controlled substances – i.e. drugs, alcohol

    Incontinence is not an issue with CCC as long as the incontinence can be managed or controlled by scheduled bathroom visits or through the use of incontinence pads. The CCC program is not the appropriate place for the incontinent client who requires frequent changes of clothes or excessive amounts of personal care throughout the day.
